Campaigns

LTA masterminds creative and effective campaigns – from concept to delivery.

For example:

  • The Call to Quit summer campaign saw LTA develop and implement a range of creative ideas to encourage Birmingham residents to give up smoking. One of the ways we helped the Birmingham Health and Wellbeing Partnership reach its target audience of Asian males was by linking with local sports clubs such as Warwickshire County Cricket Club and Birmingham City FC. The campaign resulted in more than 1,000 residents contacting the stop smoking helpline.

  • The Brummie Book of Quitting and a calendar produced for Birmingham’s smoking cessation services provided an endless stream of news coverage, including TV. LTA’s idea for asking schoolchildren to design a book and a calendar to inspire people to give up smoking provided many avenues for community involvement and publicity. The book and calendar were then used as tools to encourage people to quit – helping local Primary Care Trusts to achieve their smoking cessation targets.

  • LTA’s handling of the media campaign for Birmingham’s Quit and Win challenge resulted in six months of coverage in newspapers, on TV and on the radio that would have cost the equivalent of more than £800,000 if the client had to pay for advertising.

  • Publicity for Birmingham’s World Aids Day campaign has been handled by LTA for several years now. Each year we have, together with organisers from the NHS, developed the local themes to get across messages to break down the stigma of HIV infection and encourage safer sex. Case studies have provided powerful – and often heart-rending – human interest stories. As a result the local media – radio, TV and newspapers – have covered the sensitive issues surrounding HIV and Aids in a sympathetic way.
